Roulette with no zero is an invention of the shark of gambling, which is designed to attract new players to the age old game of Roulette. At first glance, the game is really profitable, because the absence of the zero sectors on the wheel drops the edge that casino has from 2.7% (in European roulette) to 0. However, a game with zero edge for the house is something impossible, and in fact the lack of a mathematical edge is this type of Roulette is balanced by some hidden rules.
Roulette without zero and edge of the casino
The edge that casino has, shows how much the casino gets in the long run. It is easy to calculate it using the formula:
Edge of casino = 1- (sum of wins / sum of losses)
The edge is normally worked out in percentage points, and the edge of 0 means that casino has no advantage in the long run. In other words, as the edge of casino gets closer to zero, the game gets more and more profitable for the player.
Roulette without zero is one of these situations, as the lack of additional sectors reduces the edge of the casino to zero. On the other hand, casinos are not going to offer this game for free, and guards itself through other means, such as introducing commission on the wins, which is normally 10% for all bets. Thus, if you bet £100 and win £100, you would only receive £90 due to commission.
Strategy for playing roulette without a zero
The absence of the extra sectors in Roulette without zero means that the probability of a win is equals to a payout. For example, the payout on a single winning bet on single sectors is 35 to 1, and the probability that you would win this bet is also 35 to 1. In case of betting on equal chances, the probability to win is 50 /50 or 1 to 1.
At first, it seems that because the rules are so liberal and democratic, you can use a lot of strategies, such as Martingale, Labusher, and Fibonacci and so on. In reality, it’s not that simple: the creators of this game didn’t invent it for charity, and it’s not like they are handing out payouts for everyone. The game has a lot of limits and restrictions: first of all, there is a 10% commission on all payouts, the maximum bet size is restricted, and so on. Many online casinos that offer this game restrict the size of bets on equal chances to ten units, such as £10.
Any strategies that are based on increasing bets, such as Martingale, for example, are absolutely useless for this type of Roulette as are many progressive strategies that consequently increase or change bets.
The strategy that brings the best results is believed to be the 1-2-3-4 system. This strategy provides stable results in the long run, and is very simple: the player bets on 1, 2, 3 and 4 as a sequence. If all four bets have lost or one of the bets loses, the sequence is repeated. It’s important to take bet size into account. So when selecting the bet size, say, £10, the player needs to bet £10, £20, £30, £40 consecutively.
The strategy provides maximum size of winning, when all four bets win (which happens 1 in 16 times). The great advantage of this system is that even when losing, the player benefits anyway. In other words, as long as first two bets win, the player is in profit, even if the third bet loses.
