The word ’keno’ has Latin roots. It can can be translated as ’five.’ However, this entertaining game actually comes from Ancient China. Keno appeared in China sometime around third century BC. According to the legend, the game was invented right after war, when became an instant hit, and that the funds collected went towards building the Great Wall of China. However, the documented history actually starts in the nineteenth century, when an attempt at licensing the game was first made. After that, keno spread across the world, growing in popularity, but got especially famous in USA, where it was appeared with the first Chinese migrants that were building the transcontinental railway in the middle of the nineteenth century.
The rules are quite simple: the player selects a set of particular numbers, and then places a bet on these, after which the machine randomly rolls out twenty balls, and then the outcome of the game is calculated, with player marking the number of matches, and getting payout if there are any.
Organisation
In order to take part in the game, the player needs a special game field: a card with eighty numbers from one to eighty. To start the game, the player marks twenty of them. Before it begins, the player risks some cash on the numbers marked, normally on up to ten numbers. After all bets are made, the machine randomly rolls out 20 balls out of 80.
