Some time ago, in the 70s, appeared not only the first PCs and game consoles, but also the first Video Poker machines. The game became very popular due to the fact that during playing there’s no need to converse with either the dealer or other players. Video Poker was a staple game at many casinos and afterwards started to conquer the Internet: many gamblers are attracted by its easy flow and simple rules as well as its affordability: bets start at only £0.25.
As simple as possible
The game console looks just like another slot machine. There is a screen in the middle where the player’s cards are shown, and above the screen there is a table with all the winning combinations and payouts.
There are also three indicators on the deck:
- Credit – displays the deposit that the player has;
- Win – shows the sum of the win for the last round;
- Bet – displays your current bet;
To start the game, the player needs to push the Bet Max button, which means making a maximum bet, and start by pressing the Deal button. Afterwards, five cards apprear on the screen. Any card can be swapped, and to do this, the player needs to select them by pressing Hold and then Deal to swap the ones that were not fixed. If the winning combination is drawn, the player is debited with the corresponding payout that was shown below.
Double take
Normally Video Poker machines offer the player a chance to double his payout size or increase it even further after a win. To agree to this, the player needs to press the Double button, and if you want to withdraw your winnings, you only need to press the Collect button. To double the payout, you need to play a minigame, where normally the player is asked to pick a card out of four cards, one of these is already open. To double the payout, the player needs to pick a card that will be higher in rank than the one that’s been opened. Different casinos are offering different conditions, and so instead of pulling the card, the player may be asked to guess its suit or colour.
