This offspring of the ’King of the Casinos’ appeared after Roulette conquered the Old World and joined the emigrants in the Americas in the beginning of the nineteenth century. In the States, the game was warmly received and soon became a popular pastime. As a result, a ’national’ type of Roulette has appeared and was promptly labelled ’American.’ The game has some differences if compared to its European counterpart, such as an extra double zero sector (00), which used to be previously marked as American eagle, and a smaller table. In addition, only English language is used for all annotations, and this version of Roulette requires a set of specific chips, which belong to a particular table to reduce the chances of fraud. Currently, online Roulette is a lot more popular in USA in comparison with the traditional version. However, besides the USA, the game has also spread to Latin America, Canada, and the Caribbean.
Fortune technology
Because of an extra double zero sector there are 38 sectors on the wheel, whereas the classic Roulette has only 37 of them. The order of numbers on the wheel is also different, and these are located in the red and black slots. Zero and double zero are highlighted in green.
As with other types of Roulette, the game starts with a spin of the wheel and a throw of a ball. The bets are then made and should be made no later than the first three spins. Any bets after the third spin are declined.
Bets
These are following types of bets in American Roulette:
Inside bets – the bet is placed on the particular numbers of inner surface, and it means that you can bet on one, two, three, four or six numbers. Alternatively, it is possible to bet on a special combination of numbers that is only available in American Roulette – Five Number Bet – that includes 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3.
Outside bets – these are the bets on the special field, which is located to the side of numbers. Such bets could be made on a dozen (12 numbers), column (12 numbers as well), on odd or even numbers (18 numbers at once), on colour (18 numbers as well), or on the range of numbers (18 numbers from 1 to 18, or from 19 to 36).
Oral betting is impossible in this type of the game.
Bets made
After all bets are made, it is time to determine the outcome of the round. Here, as in any type of Roulette, the player that guesses the number where the ball would stop or the one nearest to it (by betting on odd/even or columns, etc.), wins.
Because the rotating wheel has an extra sector, the odds of zero being rolled are twice as high. At the same time, a casino is favours its players, and if a ball stops on any of the zero sectors, the establishment will take only half of the bet instead of 100% as it happens in the oiriginal version of Roulette.
