British Bill Will Hit Casino Operators

British Bill Will Hit Casino OperatorsUK gambling operators claim that the new law on gambling will lead to rapid emergence of shady companies on the black market if the tax rate is too high.

The news about the bill was announced at the opening of Parliament yesterday, and it is expected that it will be adopted in the first reading.

Richard Flint, the managing director of SkyBet, said that a reasonable tax rate would boost gaming business. Richard is against the proposed rate of 15% and believes that the 7.5% is a 'reasonable compromise' that would ensure the collection of all taxes. UK Treasury confirmed that the process of determining the tax rate is yet to be completed, but the results would soon be announced.

'Of course, the bill will be hard to implement, but the government should not aim at blocking IP addresses. Hard to see how the measures for non-compliance outweigh the tax rate,' - he added.

888 executive director Brian Mettingley warned the public that the bill would lead to a 'two-tier controlled environment, where some casino operators will be forced to go to the black market.'

He also added that the situation like this 'may create a significant disturbance for all of us. More important than the tax rate itself, is the atmosphere in which equal conditions for all can not be ensured.'

The two leaders agreed on the fact that the bill is going to affect all operators. Mettingley claims that he will do his best to affect the 'end result,' while Flint draws our attention to how the bill is going to affect the profit and marketing budgets.

Casino NewsCharles Cohen, the managing director of Probability, also expressed some concerns about the bill on gambling, which would have serious consequences for small businesses and developers because of the costs associated with obtaining all licenses necessary to run their businesses.

He believes that the companies should be provided with a 'grace period' to give them enough time to adjust to the new regulations. Cohen claims that without these measures, the new legislation may result in the loss of investment and reduce consumer interest. Putting in simply, to play at the casino will be much more difficult.

The official text of the bill states that it 'is intended to expand the scope of the regulatory regime in the field of gambling to ensure a greater protection of consumers in the UK.'

The first details of the new law came into light in December. Representatives of the gambling industry were widely invited to comment on its contents.
